What the washer water inlet valve repair
involves.
The washer water inlet valve sits where the hot and cold hoses connect at the back. It has an electric solenoid for each supply, and the control opens them to fill the drum at the right temperature. Fine screens inside the inlet ports catch sand and scale from the house pipes. When a screen clogs, the washer fills slowly; when a solenoid burns out, one temperature goes missing or nothing fills; and when a valve sticks open, water keeps coming in even with the machine off, which can overflow the tub. The repair covers the valve, the screens, the hoses and the house supply valves behind them.

step by step.
Replace the valve if a coil is open or the valve leaks through, fit new hoses if the old ones are bulging or cracked, and run a hot and a cold fill to check the temperature.
Confirm both house supply valves are fully open and that water pressure reaches the hoses.
Close the supply, disconnect the hoses, and inspect the screens in the valve ports and hose ends for sediment.
Test each solenoid coil with a meter and watch which side fails to open during a fill.
Replace the valve if a coil is open or the valve leaks through, fit new hoses if the old ones are bulging or cracked, and run a hot and a cold fill to check the temperature.
