What is particular
to GE Profile.

The Profile range covers top-loaders such as the PTW700 to PTW805, front-loaders such as the PFW870 to PFW955, and the UltraFast Combo. On the combo, only its washing side is covered on this site.

UltraFresh Vent dries the gasket

Profile front-loaders have the UltraFresh Vent system with OdorBlock, which is meant to clear excess moisture after a wash. Using it after unloading is the first answer to a musty smell, before any part is replaced.

SmartDispense counts loads left

On models with SmartDispense, the display estimates how many loads of detergent are left in the tank and lights Tank Low when it needs filling. An empty tank can look like a washing problem when it is really a refill.

The lid locks while it senses

Profile top-loaders lock the lid and scroll SEnSing while they check the load, and they begin with a short spin as part of sensing. A lid that will not open for a moment at the start is normal.

The combo's pump filter is owner access

On the UltraFast Combo, the drain pump filter is designed to be reached and cleaned by the owner, and code 18 or a pump filter message tells you when. Loose items caught there are the usual cause.

Parts

Lid locks, pumps and inlet valves for Profile top-loaders and front-loaders are commonly available. SmartDispense parts and UltraFast Combo components are more specific and may need to be ordered.

Repair or replace

Most Profile washer problems end with a drain, fill, lock or sensor repair, and those are worth doing. On the combo, a failed major part is where comparing repair against replacement makes sense.

When should I use UltraFresh Vent on my GE Profile front-loader?
After the cycle is done and the laundry is out: close the door, and when the tune plays and the pad blinks, press it. It helps dry the gasket and other damp areas between washes.
My GE Profile combo is connected to a kitchen sink. What should I know?
With a sink hookup, the faucet must be on for the combo to fill. GE recommends a Y-splitter so both the hot and the cold inlets get water for every wash cycle.
What does Tank Low mean on my GE Profile washer?
It means the SmartDispense tank is running out of detergent. The display also shows an estimate of how many loads are left.
