What is particular
to LG.

LG sells front-load and top-load washers, the SideKick pedestal washer that sits under a front-loader, and the single-unit WashTower. Each has its own code list, so the exact machine is confirmed before a code is read.

Two spellings for one code

LG's current front-load list pairs the familiar letter codes with numbers, such as OE with E03 and E21 or IE with E02 and E10. An owner reading E21 is looking at the same drain problem as OE, and the checks are the same.

Suds can pose as a drain problem

LG explains that heavy foam leaves air pockets the drain pump cannot move, which can bring up OE even with a clean filter. Cutting the detergent dose and running Tub Clean is part of clearing a drain code.

A code for a frozen machine

FF tells you the washer has frozen, and LG says the controls stay disabled until the machine warms back up. In an unheated space, thawing the hoses and pump comes before any repair.

Top-loaders have a clutch code

On LG top-loaders, E6 reports the clutch, and LG says a coin caught between the pulsator and the tub can trigger it. That gap is checked before the drive parts are opened.

Parts

Drain pumps, inlet valves, door locks and level sensors for current LG washers are usually standard catalog items. The model and serial number from the label are confirmed before a part is specified.

Repair or replace

Most LG code calls end at a drain filter, a hose, a door lock or a valve, which rarely justifies a new machine. Replacement makes more sense on an older washer that needs a motor and a control board at the same time.

My LG washer shows E21, but the online guides talk about OE. Which is right?
Both. LG's current front-load list groups E03 and E21 with OE as the same drain message, so start with the drain hose and the pump filter.
Why does my LG washer keep showing OE with a clean filter?
LG says too much foam can leave the pump sucking air and trigger a drain code. Run Tub Clean, use less HE detergent, and book a visit if OE still returns.
My LG washer in the garage shows FF on a cold morning. Is it broken?
FF is LG's freeze code; the controls stay locked until the washer warms up. Pour warm, not boiling, water into the drum to thaw the pump and warm the hoses, then run a rinse to test it.
Is FE on an LG washer an emergency?
Treat it as one. FE means the tub has too much water, and LG notes a bad valve can let a machine fill even while it is off. Close both faucets and book a visit.
