usually means.

A washer that stops partway through has usually hit a check it cannot pass. It might be waiting for water that fills too slowly, trying to drain and finding the path blocked, trying to spin and sensing the load out of balance, or losing the confirmation that the door is locked. On some models a motor that runs hot rests itself and resumes later. The point in the cycle where it stops is the key detail, together with any code the display shows.

My washer pauses for a long time during the wash. Is that normal?
Some washers soak, heat water or pause to sense the load, and a long cycle can include quiet stretches. A washer that never resumes, or stops with a code, is not doing that on purpose.
It always stops at the rinse. Where should I look?
The rinse starts with a drain and a fresh fill, so a stop there often points to a slow drain or a slow fill. Checking the pump filter and the inlet screens covers both.
Could a bad door lock stop the washer halfway?
Yes. If the lock loses its confirmation during the cycle, the washer stops for safety. A lock that is failing often does this more as it warms up.
Why does my washer stop and restart by itself?
