What LF
actually means.

LF, shown as F8 E1 on other models, means the fill ran too long. Maytag's washer senses water on both inlets, so a hose that is off or a valve that is shut can trigger it, and so can a drain hose pushed deep enough into the standpipe to siphon water away during fill.

Confirm both inlet hoses are connected and both house valves are open.

Check that only about 4.5 inches of the drain hose is inside a standpipe at least 39 inches high.

Expect the lid to lock while the washer pumps out for about 8 minutes, then restart; book a visit if LF returns.

Why is the lid locked on my Maytag after LF?
After this code the washer locks the lid and pumps out for about eight minutes. Let that finish before you open it or try another cycle.
Could a low standpipe cause LF on my Maytag?
Yes. Maytag lists a minimum standpipe height, and a pipe that is too low, or a hose pushed too far in, lets water siphon out while the washer is filling.
