What dE
actually means.
On GE top-load washers, dE or E2 means the lid was opened during the cycle. The code flashes for about 30 seconds, after which the washer shuts off and the cycle has to be started again.

The control cannot confirm that the door or lid is locked, or cannot release it. A latch that does not reach the lock, a bent strike or water still in the tub is looked at before the lock assembly.
