Take everything off the top of the washer, including laundry baskets and detergent bottles. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Why does my Maytag show dU only on laundry day? That is when baskets and bottles end up on top of the washer. Maytag says items on the lid can keep it from unlocking, so clear the top first. ### Is it safe to force the lid open when my Maytag shows dU? No. Forcing a locked lid risks damaging the lock.
