On GE top-load washers, dE or E2 means the lid was opened during the cycle. The code flashes for about 30 seconds, after which the washer shuts off and the cycle has to be started again. Close the lid. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### I closed the lid but my GE still shows dE. What did I miss? Closing the lid clears the reason, but the washer waits for Start/Pause. Press it within the short window, or start the cycle again if it has shut off. ### Does dE on a GE mean the lid switch is bad? Usually not; it normally means the lid really was opened.
